Peterborough companies target environment business

Business | Press | News

Peterborough’s growing cluster of environment-related companies will be seeking new business opportunities at et2003, the UK’s premier environmental technology and management services exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham, next month (8 to 10 April).

The Peterborough presence at the show is being led by Encluster, the initiative spearheaded by the UK Centre for Economic and Environmental Development to stimulate a cluster of world-class environment-related businesses in Peterborough.

The Encluster stand, shared with environmental consultant Posford Haskoning and energy management consultant PowerQuest, will be prominently located alongside the Environment Agency stand and a few feet from the exhibition entrance.

Encluster will showcase Peterborough’s environmental expertise with a display of literature from more than a dozen key companies and a web-based presentation of the services it offers to support the growth of turnover, innovation and skills. PowerQuest is using the show to promote its capabilities in the field of energy management and efficiency.

A pre-show direct mail campaign is inviting companies to visit the Encluster stand and to consider the merits of Peterborough as an ideal location for environment businesses. For the second year the ET show coincides with the ‘Climate Change – Our Business’ conference, which will highlight policy, management, technology and funding on climate change solutions.

For the first time a newly co-located show, International Clean Up, will focus on technologies to deal with contaminated land, land remediation and pollution clean up.

“This exhibition promises to offer considerable opportunities to promote Peterborough’s reputation as a centre for environmental technology,” said Encluster’s cluster development adviser Florence Kosmala.

“With better environmental performance being encouraged and required through incentives, legislation and technology breakthroughs, Encluster is helping to identify the substantial sales opportunities that are available for Peterborough companies that can offer cost-effective solutions. We also want to persuade more companies in the environmental sector to consider expanding to Peterborough.”

Encluster’s presence at et2003 follows the success of its participation in Pollutec, the leading European show for environmental technologies, which attracted more than 60,000 visitors and 2,000 exhibitors to Lyon, France, in November. Financial support for Encluster to attend both Pollutec and et2003 has been provided by English Partnerships, the UK government's national regeneration agency.
