Mr Ormerod founded Synchroni in 2001 and prior to that was programme
director at the Centre for Exploitation of Science & Technology in
London. He aims to benefit from the contacts which IoD membership will
bring as well as from the more formal education and training
He said: "The size of the IoD's
Eastern Branch means it offers tremendous opportunities to share
experiences with other people developing their businesses.
"At the same time, joining the
IoD provides access to first-class training, some excellent social
events, and a wide range of facilities such as the library and
information service and suites of meeting rooms and offices around the
Branch chairman Stephanie Smye said:
"Gaining our 1,000th member is a real milestone for the branch.
"Our continuing growth reflects
the fact that business management is becoming increasingly complex and
the IoD provides directors with resources to help them deal with that
To celebrate the branch's recruitment
success Miss Smye presented Mr Ormerod with a bottle of champagne to
welcome him as an IoD member.
