Local businesses are being offered free advice on how to survive
natural and other disasters at a half-day seminar being organised by
Peterborough City Council’s emergency planning team in conjunction
with the London Continuity Forum.
The seminar – entitled Business
as Usual? – will be held at the National Centre for
DeafBlindness at Cygnet Business Park, Hampton, Peterborough, on
Thursday 15 February from 9 am to 2 pm. A light lunch is
included.
City council emergency planning
officer Victoria Bales said: “There are many potential threats to
the stability of all businesses. They range from natural disasters
such as flooding through to terrorist outrages. People may also find
their businesses are threatened by power failures, emergency
evacuation plans or widespread staff sickness.
“All commercial firms and even
voluntary organisations need to ask how their operations would
survive an emergency. This seminar will provide practical, expert
advice on business continuity and resilience planning. It is part of
the city council’s commitment to promoting economic resilience in
the community.”
The programme will include guest
speakers on business continuity, security and health matters, and an
opportunity for attendees to discuss individual issues.
