Launch of four local Chambers

Business | Press | News

As part of an exciting new initiative at the Chamber we are delighted to launch four local Chambers which will be taking over the role of the local area groups. The local Chambers will be branded as follows:

Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce
  • Cambridge Chamber of Commerce

  • Fenland Chamber of Commerce

  • Huntingdonshire Chamber of Commerce

  • Peterborough Chamber of Commerce

all under the umbrella of the Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce.

Each Chamber will have its own Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Steering Group and will also be fully supported by the Cambridgeshire Chambers staff based at Histon and Peterborough.

The formation of these local Chambers reinforces the aim of Cambridgeshire Chambers to involve its members in all aspects of the running of the organisation. As a membership organisation, we take our commitment to member involvement very seriously and we see the formation and future development of these local Chambers as the best way to put our commitment into practise.

As with the Local Area Groups, the purpose of the local Chambers is to focus on dealing with local issues for local members in their local environment. This will be achieved through representation, lobbying, awareness events, local meetings and social events. In addition, the local Chambers will go even further in representing local views and tackling local issues - they will have the freedom to develop and run as the members need in order to meet local needs.

The Chamber has been thrilled with the way local businesses have taken up the gauntlet and formed the local groups to date – volunteers have come forward in great numbers to take up posts and form the steering committees and we are delighted with those that have taken up the posts and are already devoting a huge amount of energy and effort to them.

We are keen to involve yet more members and your early involvement in the local Chambers will ensure that you can influence how they are developed so they meet the needs of your business and others in your local area. If you are interested in getting more actively involved please contact Alistair Turner on 01733 393333 or any member of Chamber staff. Alistair Turner, who has already successfully set up the Chamber’s Sector groups, will be the key contact for the local Chambers.
