Ashley is a mature student and over the last two years has juggled a
full-time job at Tesco with studying for his Level Two BTEC
Information and Communication Technology and then the Level Three
Access Course in Computing with Business. He will start a three-year
degree course later this year in Computing through the University
Centre Peterborough.
His course tutor David Cameron said:
“The Outstanding Achievement Award is given to students who have
overcome particularly difficult challenges and have shown exemplary
commitment and effort into achieving their studies. “Ashley combined
his studies with full-time employment and also voluntary work at the
Peterborough Sea Cadets. He was nominated in recognition of the
outstanding progress that he has made and his never-ending
persistence and determination to succeed. He has faced many
challenges on his journey but now stands poised to begin a degree
course. We wish him well with his future studies.”
Ashley was keen to talk to Mr
Rickwood about career opportunities in the IT sector and enjoyed a
tour around the headquarters which opened two years ago.
He said: “I want to be a computer
technician, working with databases. I’ve worked hard to gain my
qualifications and I’d really like to put them to good use.”
