British Heart Foundation
British Heart Foundation is a national charity which aims to raise
awareness of heart disease and associated circulatory diseases.
Money raised nationally may be spent
locally and used to buy equipment such as:
ECG machines for doctors' surgeries
and other medical establishments
Defibrillators which are sited in
public places for medical emergencies. In Peterborough defibrillators
are located at The Cresset and Queensgate Shopping Centre.
The Peterborough committee have five
members who work towards helping local people and they regularly hold
fundraising events in the City.
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army have a vision "that everyone is our society,
whatever their needs, deserves to have hope and the chance to live a
fulfilling and worthwhile life."
They have had a centre in Peterborough
since 1883 which has become the focus of a wide variety of community
This includes a social care programme,
particularly aimed at the elderly, teenagers and young adults,
pre-school children and families under pressure.

Victim Support (Peterborough)
Peterborough Victim Support is an independent charity affiliated to the
national organisation of Victim Support and offers:
someone to talk to in confidence
information on police and court
liaison with other organisations on
behalf of victims
information on compensation and
contact with other sources of help
volunteers to accompany people to
the police station and to court
The Mayor was himself responsible for
setting up the Peterborough branch of Victim Support and is still a
member of the National Council of Victim Support.
